Personal life[]

He met Kendall Long on the 5th season of Bachelor in Paradise. Despite ending their relationship in Paradise, the two reconnected after the show and began a relationship. They announced their breakup on January 29, 2020.

He met Serena Pitt on the 7th season of Bachelor in Paradise, where they got engaged at the end of the show.

"Joe, there was a time in my life where I was very cynical about love, pretty recently actually and between bad breakups and failed relationships, I started to doubt if I was gonna really be able to get there with someone. Coming to Paradise I was hopeful but I really wasn't sure if I was gonna be able to fully open myself up to finding love and then I met you and the butterflies I felt for you during our first conversation made me excited and optimistic that Paradise could work out for me and we've definitely not had it easy every step of the way on this beach, we faced a lot of obstacles between me going on another date and your ex showing up, but you've always been so honest and understanding, reassuring, that after we got through all those obstacles, it just made me drawn to you that much more. Joe, I'm head over heels in love with you and I fall more in love with you every single day. You've been so patient through this entire thing and I'm so grateful for that because it's allowed me to figure out what I really want, which is you. And I do see a future with us and I'm so excited for it." - Serena to Joe

"It was nice. But I do have to be honest with you, um, my ex did just show up on the beach. Swear on my life. But yeah, that just happened. If anything it just made me more confident in how much I do love you. When I left Paradise last time, I pretty much told myself, I would never come back. Two years go by, I found myself single and I'm like, yeah you know why not? What's the worst that could happen? In all honesty I really didn't think I'd fall in love again, what are the odds of that, right? And then I met you. I wasn't sure if you were going to be able to open up because maybe I was projecting, because I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to open up, but we did and the day you told me you were falling in love with me, you showed me how vulnerable you could be and after that I was all in. We have definitely had our speed bumps along the way, but the way you've handled it shows me what a kind and loving person you are. I'm really into you, your smile, your charm, your looks, this, this whole thing, the Toronto accent, um, it's just really everything about you. It happened fast, faster than I thought, but at this point I don't see myself not wanting to wake up with you by my side. When I think about forever, you know it's, that's scary, and then I think about it with you and I don't know, it feels right. You told me you were falling in love with me first, you told me you love me first, now it's my turn... Serena Pitt, I love you very much. Will you marry me?" - Joe proposing to Serena

They were married on October 27, 2022, at City Hall, and had their official wedding ceremony on September 2, 2023.
