Kaitlyn Dawn Bristowe was a contestant in the 19th season of The Bachelor.

She was eliminated in week 9.

She was later chosen as the Bachelorette for the 11th season of The Bachelorette. Initially, she and Britt Nilsson were both announced as the two Bachelorettes, but on the first night the guys voted for Kaitlyn to be the Bachelorette, and Britt was sent home.

She hosted the 17th season of The Bachelorette alongside Tayshia Adams.

Early life[]

The daughter of a ballerina, Bristowe grew up in Leduc, Alberta, Canada, and moved as an adult to Vancouver for a dance scholarship where she became a spin-class instructor.

Bristowe was a contestant on Chris Soules's season of The Bachelor. She caught the audience's attention with her wry, sometimes inappropriate sense of humor. She placed third overall, losing to runner-up Becca Tilley and winner Whitney Bischoff.

The Bachelorette[]

On The Bachelor "After the Final Rose" segment, host Chris Harrison announced that season eleven would begin with two Bachelorettes, Bristowe and fellow season nineteen contestant Britt Nilsson, and that the 25 men would vote on Night 1 to keep one of the two women on the show. On May 19, 2015, the second night of season 11, Bristowe became the official bachelorette of season eleven by earning earning more votes than Nilsson. During week four of the season, Bristowe made the controversial decision to allow season ten contestant Nick Viall to enter the competition, after she ran into him during a group date in New York City. Viall became the runner-up when Bristowe chose contestant Shawn Booth, who proposed to her in the season finale, and she accepted.

Dancing with the Stars[]

During The Bachelor: Greatest Seasons - Ever!, she was announced as the first participant in Season 29 of Dancing with the Stars. At first, she mistook the moment as her boyfriend Jason Tartick proposing.

She was partnered with Artem Chigvintsev.

Personal life[]

She met Shawn Booth on her season of The Bachelorette. They got engaged at the end of the season, but never set a wedding date. They ended their relationship in October 2018.

In March, 2017, she shared on Instagram, that she had made the decision to freeze her eggs. She had the help of Bachelor (season 19) star Whitney Bischoff who works as a fertility nurse. On the same day Carly Waddell and Andi Dorfman also froze their eggs.

She began a relationship with Jason Tartick from the 14th season of The Bachelorette in January 2019. They got engaged on May 10, 2021, but announced their breakup on August 6, 2023.

In May 2020, she opened up in a YouTube video and revealed that she had been addicted to Valium: "I had become addicted to Valium and I was about 93lb and that is when somebody had to shake me and say "You can’t live like this"."

In May 2023, she opened up about being bisexual on the Out and About podcast.
