The 16th season of The Bachelorette premiered on May 18, 2020.

The season will feature 38-year-old Clare Crawley, a hairstylist.

She previously rejected Juan Pablo Galavis on the 18th season of The Bachelor.

Clare Crawley was announced as the Bachelorette on March 2, 2019, on Good Morning America.

Before Clare was chosen as the Bachelorette, six other women were reportedly considered for the role. They were: Hannah Brown, who reportedly turned the offer down because the show wasn't paying her enough, Tia Booth, who reportedly even signed a contract and was the second choice behind Clare, Kelsey Weier, who also reportedly signed a contract and now is most likely to head to Paradise, Tayshia Adams, who also reportedly signed a contract, Kendall Long, who met with producers but never signed a contract, and finally Katie Morton, who met with producers but was only briefly considered.

On March 11, 2020, 32 possible contestants were announced.

On March 13, 2020, ABC announced that filming had been postponed due to the recent Coronavivrus (COVID-19) outbreak. Filming was originally scheduled to have begun that very day.
